About the Role
We are looking for an Information Technology professional to join our team. The senior managed services engineer candidate will have the ability to use critical thinking to solve problems. This person will be responsible for working with Mainstream clients for support, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues. Much of the daily work is handled remotely, however, some work will require going onsite to the client’s location. As part of this role, the candidate will be responsible for carrying a 24×7 on-call support phone one week per month. The successful candidate will display professionalism and have excellent communications and interpersonal skills both internally as well as with our clients.
Experience with Windows Server administration and configuration is required!
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is to work tickets to resolution in a timely manner by working with clients
- Look for the root cause of all issues to correct the cause for long term resolution
- Ensure that client documentation is correct and kept up to date
- Participate as part of the lead engineer team for assigned clients
- Provide assistance to other engineers as needed
- Be the main point of contact for your assigned clients
- Perform monthly maintenance for your assigned clients
- Understand the client from the top, all the way down. This includes the servers/infrastructure/applications, the client’s staff and their roles, the core business and how IT enables them.
- Identify potential security risks and report them to the appropriate parties.
- Proactively look for ways to improve the client’s infrastructure.
- Help the client improve their business through the use of technology
Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical experience
- Demonstrate logical and creative thinking
- Proficient with Microsoft Server setup, configuration, and administration
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows setup, configuration, and administration
- Good Understanding of Backup fundamentals and concepts
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, IIS
- Experience with Virtualization and high availability
- Experience with server and workstation hardware
Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of LAN technologies including switching, VLANs, Wi-Fi, routing
- Knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Azure
- Good Understanding of Backup fundamentals and concepts
- Familiarity with WAN technologies and connectivity including firewalls
- Be self-motivated to excel
- Be adaptable and demonstrate a willingness to assist in any situation
- Have excellent written, phone, and verbal communication skills
- Be able to communicate clearly and confidently with clients
- Have excellent documentation skills
- Be reliable and punctual.
